President Museveni, accompanied by First Lady Janet Museveni and NRM leadership, held the first campaign rally of the day in Namayingo District, emphasizing the importance of peace for development.
“This region carries a deep history. We fought Lakwena in Muterere, and our people near Busia were being attacked by FOBA forces coming from Kenya. Today, all that is history. Whatever you are doing, keep the peace because it is peace that allows us to build and progress,” Museveni said.
The President highlighted the Busita–Mayuge–Namayingo–Lumino–Busia road as a major success story. Once a battlefield, he recalled confronting soldiers during Amin’s regime near Musiita. “Seeing that former fighting zone now as a smooth tarmac road makes me very happy,” he said.
Museveni concluded by urging residents to support the ruling party in the upcoming elections, stressing that continued NRM leadership would protect existing gains and drive further development.
“Vote NRM so we can protect the gains we have achieved and do even more in the coming Kisanja,” he added.
